Some recent exciting news around here is that my brother, Jason, just moved from Orange County, CA to DFW! We are thrilled! He felt it was time to move on from his high school ministry position there and finish seminary full time in Fort Worth, at Southwestern. He will be working at a church part time while he finishes. One of his friends recently took over pastoring a smaller church there, so he's excited to be a part of that. We are so excited that he will be closer.
He came at the beginning of May to meet with his new seminary and to get a better picture of his new job. He stayed with us then, which, of course, thrilled our boys. He is staying with us now until he gets housing worked out in Fort Worth. This weekend, he was in Austin and Houston visiting some friends, and I must say, we missed him a lot. We got used to having him around! He knows that he is welcome as long as possible...we love having him here!
If you know Jason at all, you know that he is a sports FANATIC! He loves watching almost any sport, and he knows the ins and outs of the rules to what the players are feeling at the moment to statistics, etc... The World Cup has been on and the Rangers are on fire right now, so he has taught Luke a lot about soccer and baseball. Sometimes, Luke will just sit by him and mimic all the expressions and phrases he uses. "Ah, man...that was soooo close!" "YESSSS!" "Come on! Come on!" Thankfully, all that he has had to imitate from has been G-rated! ;)
Here are a few photos of our time with him so far!
When he came in May, he was able to tour Cowboys Stadium, and he brought this back for Luke:

Then, he taught him "Down, Set, Hut!!" And they would run around and chase each other until they got tackled or scored a touchdown. The cutest thing was that Luke would say, "Down!", and he'd crouch to the ground. "Sit!", and he'd sit down. "Hut!", and he's scream and run around like a crazy person. Hilarious!

I'd say that this smile is the smile of having fun!

"ARRR!"...showing off their guns!

Even Mr. Jack likes the helmet. He was running with it on a few days ago, and he ran right into the wall. Good thing he had the extra padding on it.

Lazy morning with Uncle Jason watching the World Cup. Luke saw Jason carry his pillow in the living room, so, naturally, he brought his pillow in, too...

...and watched every expression that Jason made, so that he could make the same expression. I love it!

We are so glad you are back here, Uncle Jason...just one more example of a godly man that my boys have to model after!
