Two Blessings

I took the following pictures on the same day.

First, it was one of those weird Texas late afternoon thunderstorms. Outside of the windows in the back of my house, it was a completely blue, sunny, cloudless sky. Outside of the windows in the front of my house, it was completely black. Then, the rain and gentle thunder. Then, this...

Oh my word, it was beautiful. My tiny digital camera didn't do it an ounce of justice. The only other time I've seen a rainbow that so vastly stretched from one side of the sky to the other was in Hawaii over the ocean. Never in my backyard! I rushed to get Luke and Jack outside to see it and was able to teach Luke about the first rainbow in the Bible. I love that, to this day, rainbows still remind me of God's faithfulness and protection. He is good! With soggy socks from the wet sidewalk, we stood out there and watched it until it disappeared. Love those memories!

Then, Luke was being extra cooperative when I wanted to take his picture. Score!

Seriously? I know I'm quite biased, but this boy is CUTE! When I look at these pictures of him, I really feel bittersweet. My heart aches at how fast time is going...he looks like a BOY here, not a toddler. It makes me think of how quickly this time will fly in raising my boys. It convicts me to invest in them more spiritually. It makes me hunger for His Word active in my life. I am overwhelmed with gratitude to the Lord for entrusting Luke and Jack to me to show them His goodness and glory! Thank you, Jesus!
