Just some updates on my oldest...
Where to begin?
- Honesty, I think 2 and a half has been more challenging than 2! We have one precious, VERY strong-willed child that God has entrusted us with. Greg and I are praying that this will be used for God's glory to make him a strong leader. He knows what he wants, and he's not happy when that doesn't work out.
- Our motto with him...consistency, consistency, consistency. That's how he learns. (I guess that's how every child learns!)
- He is carrying on LONG conversations now. I love talking with him. He can communicate just about anything now. He surprises me with the things he picks up on. One of my favorites lately:
Me: "Luke, you need to pick up your cars and put them in your bucket."
Luke: "How about you pick up my cars and I'll just watch a video?"
Ummm...don't think so, buddy!
- He remembers EVERYTHING! I have to be really careful about the promises I make to him, because he will hold me to them!
- He reads one Bible story every night. I am surprised by what he remembers. I was praying with him last night after reading the story about Baby Jesus. I was thanking God for sending Baby Jesus, and Luke surprised me by saying, "And thank you for Baby Moses in the basket."
- I love that he does what he wants, and he's not influenced by what others are doing. Again...praying for a confident leader!
- His sense of humor - AMAZING. It's like he knows what's supposed to be funny, even if he doesn't understand it.
- Luke loves the outdoors!
- He is a sweet big brother to Jack. I can tell he has a genuine love for him. He gets excited when he hears him wake up from his naps. "Momma, Cack awake! Cack awake! I going to see him and bring him some toys!"
- He's the cutest thing I've ever seen! Still love those precious dimples, and, lately, I've noticed more and more Petty in him, especially his cute mouth that curves up when he talks.
Here are some recent pics of him:
Luke with my Aunt Sheryl in Sulphur Springs. He loves reading with her. I don't know...Aunt Sheryl might love it more.
Greg recently took the boys to a parade in Uptown. He got a kick out of these random characters walking the streets of Dallas.
Luke LOVES to sing. I have recently taught him the Spirit of Aggieland. Then, I let him watch it on YouTube. He loved it!
Playing with his squirty ball. It was fun...until he slid down his slide, into a HUGE fire ant pile. His poor little bottom was covered with ants!
Nothing a little water can't help with!

Dancing/singing...this boy is a musician...he already has good pitch!

His favorite toys right now: his blue bucket of cars. He has a ton of them, and some days, that's all he plays with.
In fact, he had a blast one rainy day giving his cars a "bath". Easy and FUN! (It did end up being somewhat of a disaster because I didn't realize the bucket of water had a crack in it. Then, Luke decided to dump out the water from the bowl. We had water EVERYWHERE, but he had fun!)

Sweet brothers

Sometimes, he loves him a little too much!

So silly...everything's a game to this kid. Even when he's in trouble, he will try to play it off as a game. "This isn't a game, Luke." "No, Momma dis IS a game! It's funny!"
