Laundry Drama

Back in March, it was becoming clear that our dryer was deteriorating quickly. This was right in the middle of moving expenses, payment for breaking our lease in Rockwall and all kinds of other atypical expenses. Then, it stopped drying altogether. The timing wasn't great.

We were desperate to finish laundry one really busy day, though, before we could get a new dryer. I already had dinner plans that evening with some college friends. So, Greg and the boys had some man time...at the laundromat. I told Greg that I was pretty sure Luke and Jack would love it there, and they did. They played, behaved and had a great time.

Here's the funny part. We decided just to get it all done (washing and drying) in one trip rather than taking wet clothes to the laundromat. (We didn't have enough time to wash them all, for one reason.) Big mistake. He got there, put the clothes and money in the washers and started them. Then, the owner came up and said, "Sir, you know we close in a few minutes, right?". Graciously, he allowed Greg to finish his loads of clothes that were in the washer. But, wait...wasn't it our dryer that was broken? You guessed it ... Greg ended up back at home with wet clothes and two very tired boys. (Luke was abnormally tired. I had a feeling he was coming down with something. Sure enough, the next day, he had the flu.) It was a complete wasted trip and waste of money...we could have washed our clothes at home! Thankfully, our neighbor let us use their dryer that evening, which we used for most of the clothes. We had the rest of our clothes hanging up all over the house to dry. What a night...I felt so bad for Greg.

At least the boys had fun!
Luke took his pony for a ride:

I've never been so thankful for a new dryer as I was when we got our new one! Thanks, Mom and Dad, for the Christmas money that we put to good use! I'm so glad we saved it!
