On the 4th of July (yes, I'm 2 months behind with blogging), we decided to head to a blueberry farm in Caldwell to pick some fresh blueberries. It turned out to be SUCH a FUN day!
They both got into it so quickly that it was hard to get them to stop for a picture.
There are MANY pictures ahead. I just couldn't choose from all of my favorites.
If you've ever read the children's classic "Blueberries for Sal", you'll know what I mean about the noise the blueberries made hitting the bottom of their tin pails...clank, clank, clank.
We've come to realize that Jack is so intense and passionate about anything he is doing.
Independent Luke...
Greg took some pictures from the other side of the bushes. Love these...
I call the next few pictures "Jack caught in the Act". As much as we told this fruit-lovin' boy not to eat them yet, he just couldn't resist.
Jack's bucket: (He had a harder time sticking to just the dark blueberries. He wanted them ALL!)
Luke's pail:
These party favor pails were perfect for blueberry-picking!
We had a fun pit-stop on the way home at a convenient store for our sweaty boys to pick out any candy they wanted, plus lemonade. Quite the treat for these boys!
We made it home, ate plenty of blueberries, then celebrated the holiday with a patriotic fruit pizza. "Yum to the yum-yum!", as my boys would say!
My little helper:
My little eater:
Love this goofy grin! Reminds me so much of Greg here!
It was definitely a hit, and probably a new Independence Day tradition.
