Jack...
...is 9 weeks old.
...is precious!
...is beginning to look like he might have red hair! (yet sometimes it lookes white)
...is sleeping about 6-7 hours consistently at night. (yea!)
...still is not on a good consistent napping routine. (argh!)
...has a hard time napping on his own. The boy loves to be held!
...smiles and coos a lot now - absolutely adorable.
...has beautiful blue eyes. (He is our child, I promise.)
...is 12 pounds (50%) and 23 inches (75%).
...has cute little rolls on his thighs.
...likes to be swaddled. We love our Jack burrito.
...is either hot or cold in the car. He either loves it and coos/talks the whole time or cries himself to sleep.
...is the perfect addition to our little family.
Luke...
...will be TWO YEARS OLD in less than three weeks. Oh my goodness.
...is so much fun! He could "pay!" (play) all day long.
...could live outdoors. He is just like his daddy.
...is talking up a storm now. It's so fun to see him learn new words and sentences daily.
...melts his momma's heart when he says, "I wuv wu, Momma."
...is still trying to understand the concept of obedience and authority.
...screams when he's excited, mad, frustrated or when he senses that one of us are experiencing one of those emotions. This has been the hardest behavior to break him of.
...is the sweetest big brother. He has surpassed our expectations.
...kisses Jack whenever and wherever he can.
...loves buses, trains, trucks, airplanes and helicopters.
...sometimes surprises himself with how strong he really is.
...gets so proud of himself when he accomplishes something. "I deed it!"
...is stinkin hilarious when he pretends to talk on the phone. He paces around just like us and even leaves silent moments for his pretend talkmate to speak.
...always says, "Bye! See ya!"
...is really beginning to show that he might be a musician like his daddy. He can keep a beat easily, and he will get songs/tunes stuck in his head that he hums through the day.
...loves to be chased.
...loves his shoes. He gets excited about new shoes, too.
...is learning to obey when we tell him to do something with, "Okay, Momma" or "Okay, Dada". This is not natural for him, so it's tough to teach him and SO CUTE to hear!
...is just wonderful. I can't explain how much I love that kid.
Other updates:
- We went to Dallas 2 weekends ago and took Luke to Sesame Street live. He was definitely a fan and clapped to the rhythm of the songs.
- We are going to Austin this weekend.
- We're also taking a trip to California to see my family next Thursday, the 19th. Greg is coming home on the 23rd, then my mom will fly back with me on the 26th to stay for a few days. Yippee!
- Jack will get to meet his Uncle Billy and Uncle Jason on this trip.
- We are traveling to Houston the weekend I get back to go to the state Odyssey of the Mind tournament. The team I have coached the last 2 years and helped coach some this year are competing, and I promised I would be at state to support them and help Cindy coach. My mom will be with us that weekend to help with the boys.
- I feel like we are still on survival mode with having 2 boys under 2 years old. It is definitely the most challenging thing I have ever done. But, it's also the most rewarding. I am so blessed to be their mommy.
- Luke is at the age where he loves for me to sit on the ground and play with him. I wish I could do this all day long, but, Jack is demanding so much attention right now. Luke seems to understand, but I feel like I am constantly feeling guilty that I am either not being the mom that I need to be at the moment for Luke or for Jack. It's tough at times, for sure.
- We are really enjoying the community group that we lead and are starting to feel connected to many of the families.
- I have been in major spring-cleaning mode. I am ready to rid the house of so much STUFF that we just don't need or use. More than that, I am so ready to be more organized. I feel like my days are often surrounded by C-L-U-T-T-E-R!
- I'm thinking about braving the grocery store tomorrow by myself with both of the boys. Should I do it?? I'm a little nervous.
- We LOVE spring in Tyler. We get so excited when everything starts to bloom, especially the azaleas. Our house should look GORGEOUS in a week or so.
What a long post! Blogging has not been a priority lately. I barely have time to shower! We are so thankful for our 2 little guys and trying to savor each moment with them through each little stage they go through. It goes by too fast not to!

Girl, I need to get you my number! I'm having so many of the similar feelings and Rachel is only 1 week old (I know, I'm ahead of myself just a little bit!) But, the balancing two, giving Anna the attention that I'd like, getting rid of clutter, wanting Rachel to eventually be on a schedule.... - I can most definitely relate!!! Just trying to stay focusing on what is TRUE and what God has equipped me to do!! Love the updates -take care friend!
I enjoyed reading your post. I hope to meet Jack soon. YEAH, for him sleeping well at night. I can't believe Luke will be 2! I remember we just went to his first birthday. Watching him eat his cake was AWESOME. Keep up the good work Alissa! Miss you!
I love your little Jack burrito too! =) He's a cutie.
How did the grocery store go?? I didn't take two kids to the grocery store for months and months after Parker was born. I still try to grocery shop without one child whenever I can work that out.
