I have a few questions in case there are any veteran mommies reading this blog. I am feeling ready to wean him from breastfeeding. (Is it awkward for anyone else to say the word "wean"?) Previously, when I had to be gone, he used to take formula from a bottle just fine, but now he's being a little picky and won't even try to take a bottle. What do I do? I don't mind breastfeeding a little bit longer, but he's going to have to stop sometime. Does anyone know when it's okay to start cow's milk? These are things I've been meaning to ask Dr. Barret for weeks, but forgot at the appointment today.
Also, it's already time to move Luke from his infant seat to the next stage. Does anyone have any recommendations for good 20-pounder carseats? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Lastly, here are some new pictures of my two cute boys.

Well I'm definitely no Veteran Mom. But I do know they recommend waiting until your baby is a year before offering cow's milk. I can't explain it in detail...but it has to do with the intake of Iron....cow's milk doesn't contain enough. Some Dr's will approve at 11 months, but I think some begging would have to be involved on your part. :) My doc said that if you start to introduce a sippy cup now, then it will help them when it's time to wean. Because they will already know how to drink liquid from another source. i.e. sippy cup. We just starting trying that with P and he didn't understand it, but then I put breastmilk in the cup, and he drank from it. So hopefully he'll transfer that understanding to whole milk or water when the time comes!
Hope that helped a little bit!
Hey Alyssa,
I am not sure you got your question answered, but we had to find the PERFECT sippy cup. It was a stressful few days, and then we used one that made all the difference (one with a soft nipple- ugh- another horrible word!!)
I am with Kristyn- I heard a year, too for "cow's milk". Which is weird, too. Before I had a baby, I assumed all milk was cow's milk.
